Amzah is 3!!

It was Amzah’s 3rd birthday on the 16th is September! I would have blogged sooner, but been terribly busy with work and the stresses of life in general.

It feels soo great, but at the same time daunting to leave the 2’s behind and enter “World War 3″! (which is pretty much what I’m expecting from Amzah, with a tiny glimmer of hope that it won’t be as challenging as the past year)

Upon reflection There‘s a few things I learnt during the past year I would like to share.

1: The sh*t (pooping) never stopped after being potty trained, nope, it bloody evolved! It tured into shitty brief and finger smeared walls! Seriously

2: Boys will be boys! The love of Power Rangers Dino Charge is real! If you have read my previous blogs about Amzahyou will know he loves dinosoars! Now add a ninja fighting Power Ranger to the mix. Someone’s always getting hurt!

3: Guess who’s showing affection to his little brother finally! This is a huge milestone! It’s never often and always on his terms but none the less it’s progress.

4: Taking Amzah out is still a challenge and he still gets overload in public places but we have learnt to work with him to ensure he doesn’t reach the point of a meltdown or run away. It usually revolves around some dinosaur programme on my phone being used but it works and keeps him happy for the best part of 30 minutes.

5: “I love you mum” I could do the running man dance everytime I hear these words. It’s very rare but sometimes he wants to cuddle up in bed with me. Then he will give me a random kiss and tell me he loves me! He may get a little prompt but we get there in the end 😉

6: He wipes my kisses! How funny is it that his sensory possessing disorder causes him to put everything he finds of interest in his mouth but when I give him a kiss the little rugrat is scornful, wipes it away and says “eeww mum that’s di-gust-ting” #bloodycheek

7. Everyone he plays with is “guys” and if he don’t get to play with his “guys” (mind you, he never bothers to learn anyone’s names) he’s causing havoc!

8. Donuts, popcorn and ice lollies! I have spent a full year buying these like its running out of fashion. Who’s idea was it to give a 2 year old choice and preferences please?

9. Is intelligence in a 2year old a blessing or a curse? He steals food from the fridge then when he gets caught hands it to his sister like it was hers all along! Or so he can have an ice lolly he will offer one to bill, ted and the rest of the village if it means he’s getting one too.

10. YOUTUBE! Surely a 2 year old shouldn’t know how to manoeuvre around on the Internet, but no! Not Amzah, he has worked out how to watch every youtube video relating to his favourite thing……flipping dinosoars!

What an interesting year it has been, from learning he had some developmental delays and processing disorders to progressing into a whiz kid online. It has been a year full of ups and downs but also a year of growth and understanding about my special little boy!

Thanks for reading! Here’s some snaps of him on his special day. He didn’t fully grasp that it was his special day but he got the gist of it once we brought over his cake with a candle and sang “Happy Birthday”

Thanks for reading!
